Considered one of the best small group jazz sessions ever recorded, Cannonball Adderley's album Somethin' Else (recorded for Blue Note records) features Miles Davis as a sideman, when at the time, Adderley was a member of the Miles Davis Sextet - a rare occurrence at the time and a compliment and mark of respect from Davis to Adderley.
In addition to his trumpet star boss, Cannonball Adderley is flanked by pianist Hank Jones, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Art Blakey, all of whom shine throughout. Among the highlights is the Joseph Cosma standard 'Autumn Leaves' featuring a superlative lyrical solo from Miles Davis.
This special edition includes two bonus tracks from the same session but not included on the original LP: 'Allison's Uncle' (aka 'Bangoon'), and a rarely heard alternative take of the aforementioned 'Autumn Leaves'.
